Question 02 or 03 please help

I've dreamed of owning an L since 1999 when they brought them back. I've finally got the money and now I'm ready to buy! My original plan was to wait for the end of this year when I can hopefully get a discounted price on a 02 L. I was assuming the 03's would cost 34,000-35,000. Although now people are saying they will go for low $33'xxx, with X-plan still in the low 29,xxx. I have an x-plan pin (thank you TheHylandr) and am now considering getting an 03 since the x-plan price really isn't that much different then the 02. My question is if I can get a dealer to go even lower then x-plan on an 02 should I take it? The truck has been on the lot since February. Are there any problems that could arise from it sitting outside for 9-10 months? Would it be better to go with an 03 that would be "fresh"? I've been following this board daily for the past year and remember a thread a while ago about the 03's having something on the computer that would not allow new programs or that couldn't be chipped or something. I tried doing a search but came up with nothing. Was that just a rumor or is this still a concern? Sorry about all the questions I just want to make any mistakes. Thank you for any help and advice you can give.

I also have heard the '03s have a different computer, but all the follow ups posted here and elsewhere say, no...the '03 computer will be the same kind as the '02.

Since the '03s will just be some minor trim differences, increased load capacity, wheels, etc., I don't think there are enough compelling reasons to choose an '03 over an '02, especially if you can cut a good deal on the '02. How many miles on the '02 you're looking at?

I bought a new '02 in May; had been on their lot since March (made in Jan of '02). It had like 34 miles on it whan I bought it. So far, no issues related to on-the-lot-time. But, I would go over it with a fine-tooth comb, especially in regard to wheel alignment (I made them give me a printout of the results they got; all were within spec). I would also go over the paint very carefully and make them fix any scratches, flaws, etc.

So, to me it all boils down to current miles (if it has 500 mils on it, I would be wary) condition and price.

Just my $.02

There are actually 4 L's on the lot. All have less then 100 miles on them. I'm most interestd in the True Blue, unfortunately it looks like it's been around for 10 months. It has some paint defects and lot's of swirl marks. Not to mention the interior has some scuffs and the fuel door is pushed in. Can I expect them to fix everything? How much could i reasonably ask them to take off if they don't want to fix anything?
