Bassani Exhaust ?

I'm wanting to get the complete exhaust system for my Lightning but was wondering if you guys that already have it are running the cat back system with the stock cats? Or are you using bassani's high flow cats? Did you notice a big difference in power with the exhaust system?

Thanks for the help

cat back is sweet, expensive, but sounds very nice.

I don't see any benefit of replacing the front (headers and cats)with bassani, no performance or sound gains that I know of.

I don't believe that Bassani is making long tubes for our trucks, just the shorties. Great quality stuff just don't expect any performance gains from it. Great sound for sure but no gains.

Watch out for the cats that come with the full system if you decide to go that way. I have the full system and those cats are cr@p. The heat shields are barely tack welded on and they will bust or melt the welds and rattle. VERY annoying. Also, there were reports of problems with the honeycombs in the cats themselves giving up the ghost, though I haven't had that problem. Do a search and you might find some more info on this. One other problem I had was that the center joint on my passenger side header was NOT COMPLETELY WELDED! It had a small leak in the center where the 4 pipes come together. Bassani replaced the piece at no charge (and this was long after I bought the system), so they did right by me that way, but putting the headers on is not that easy and I didn't want to tackle it at home, so I ended up having to pay for having it put on twice - ouch! Right now I'm thinking about running the stock cats with the headers and catback piece (which they say is possible). 1. it will quiet the system down a little (which will make my neighbors happy). 2. the factory cats are MUCH higher quality.

Now on to the good: The thing is beautiful. Too bad it's mostly under the car and there's so much stuff in the engine bay that you can barely see the headers. It sounds GOOD! But it is somewhat loud - louder than flows or dynomax's. Not bad when you're not on the throttle, but when you have your foot in it - I hope you have an aftermarket sound system. Oh, and keep the passenger side window rolled up if your lady is not into cars. It also fits perfectly. The tips are nice and tight up to the cut out in the panel and they're nice and shiny too. Watch out when you clean them, though, I cut my finger the first time I washed them because the ends are so sharp (I now have a bunch of carbon permanently ingrained in that scar on my finger).

Don't look for much in the way of performance gains, although I did find it a bit easier to break the back end loose after I had it on. It wasn't that hard before though, YMMV. I originally thought that I was going to be running big pulleys and nitrous so I thought it would be a good idea to open up the exhaust a bit, but I have since decided that I like my truck too much and want to be able to drive it on the street (I live in the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia and they are not that nice to people who want to drive loud, modded cars on the street).

If you want, you can call me and I'll let you listen to it over the phone. Send me an email to wmounday@yahoo.com and I'll give you the number.

Thanks man i will send you an email so i can listen to the exhaust and what other mods do you have on the truck?

I know most exhaust system don't give huge horsepower gains buti'm looking for a little performance gain to get me to a lower 13 second pass but i would like to hear it cause i don't want anything real loud just a nice tone.
