Unhappy Popping noise

I'm not sure if this has been answered before, but I'll ask again.

I've had my truck about a month and a half, and three times I've heard a popping noise when I'm turning. It happens from the front usually when I'm sitting still or slowly moving. It's pretty loud. The first time it happened I actually thought somebody was shooting a gun. Then this morning as I'm pulling my boat out of the driveway, "POP"! Does anybody know what could be going on? I don't feel anything in the steering wheel, and it doesn't seem to affect the truck's integrity. It just pops.

Help!

Its the world famous Clunk, comes free of charge from Ford on most Lightnings.

Easy fix, either tighten it up your self, "OR" bring it to ford, "or" put a herb washer in it and a assy kit.

Thanks for the info Rob! Looks like my L caught the "Clunk". Also looks like it gets to go back into the shop. Third time already.

Thanks, for the info!

Give it a few days before u go in when i just got the truck it did that and by 600 miles it quit on its own and hasnt done it since. Go figure. Maybe it just took time to settle in place in teh front end. I have no explaination for why it stopped but u might get lucky. Anything is worth avoidin a trip to the shop.

It's kind of funny, but my 99 had a bad case of the "clunks"

After I traded it for the 01, I bought a set of washers, never put them in, and the truck never has clunked
Guess the washers work, even in the console!
