Question Orange Plug hanging out...

Was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this... I was crawling around under the truck today and found an Orange plug hanging beside the oil filter. It has 3 slots that form a sort of triangular pattern. I looked and it plugs into a slot about 4 inches up into the engine (I believe) ... Should this be plugged in or left out... I never noticed it before when I changed my oil and now I'm kind of worried. It looks like its a power cable. I tried following it and I believe it goes to the Anti-freeze resevoir or in that general area. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated... On a side note, my truck has blown its heater core 3x since I've had it. Now I'm wondering its been about 2000 km's since I had the truck in for oil/filter and the heater core fix. Maybe a tech pulled it out for some reason?

Thank you.

It sounds as if you have a block heater wire on/in your truck. No biggie, you can check the left side of the block and see if by chance Ford installed a block heater in one of the freeze plug openings?

If not then you could either simply remove it, there should be like 1 locator tab on the back or the A-arm mount on the frame. Or simply tuck it up and grab a tie wrap and hide it out of sight.
