Unhappy Very dissapointed w/ 1/4mile trip

Drove over to the closest 1/4 mile strip in Kinston, N.C. last night expecting to get my 12 sec. slip. Temp was lower 60's. New reburn on the 2nd side of the chip. Nittos and traction bars mounted. Last 1/8 time locally was 8.400. All looked good.

Well, track prep sucked and I spun all over the place with the Nittos cranking out 2.1 60 foot times and 8.6/8.7 1/8 mile times. My 1/4mile times were a best of 13.467 and a worst of 13.648. Even got spanked by a Subaru WRX running 13.000:o Just needed to vent a little. Everyone was spinning bad and they had a lot of breakages with long staging lines. I am pretty discouraged since I was expecting a 12.9xx I mean I ran 8.42 on the F1's. I think I will go back to the local 1/8th mile track that I can hook up on.

Hey mark, kinston can either be real bad or real good, sounds like last night was real bad. It took me a 8.22 there to run a 12.88. 60ft was like 1.88 or so on MT ETs. That was in 90deg august weather and a chip, shift kit and tires only. Better luck next time, if you let me know when you are going, maybe i can meet you there and see if i can offer any advice.

Kinston track

Do they still run test and tune on Sat?I ran at Dunn last night w/ a best of .402 reaction - 1.847-5.376- 8.299 ET at 84.109. I did however have better reaction time of .210- but 8.374 ET on another run.Are these good times?Only my 2nd time to run her, first time spun a rod w/ 400 miles on her.I now have 4400 miles. Anyway just checking to see if anyone knows about the track for tomorrow?Rick

If he ran last night, that means they havent switched from thurs night back to sat afternoon yet, they will do it when time changes i think. Good to see you back aqua, i was wondering if that motor ordeal had scared you from racing.

I was only running 90mph's in the 1/4 after running 84mph in the 1/8 according to the track trap speed times. I was laying in the gas all the way down the track too. The track prep and staging lines were horrible. Nobody was telling you when to begin your burnout or when to move up. Just not much order to the whole night. Very dissapointed overall.

whoa, even spinning bad, it should have made your MPH be higher than normal, and normal for a mid 13 is at least 100. I was running 104, 105 when i had 13.0's Are you sure you were not letting off too soon, the cones at the end of the track are for the beginning of the mph timer, the end of the quarter and end of the mph timer are very hard to see.

I let off too early in my first run because I was use to running the 1/8th. That was my best 1/8mile time of the night @8.49 but I stayed in the gas on the other runs I am sure. I also had a 1.90 60' on the first run of the night when I let off too soon. I had a 8.49 1/8 and a 13.8 1/4 at 70 mph. That was pretty stupid but I am used to passing the scoreboard in New Bern and seeing my actual time posted.

In regards to the boost dump, I had bypassed that before I modded the truck but there was a little stumble into 2nd gear on my first run and I then unplugged the boost dump solenoid before my next run. So I had it unplugged most of the night.

I wish the strip was open tonight. I am really pissed off and want to test this thing out some more.
