90mm MAF on 2000 Lightning
90mm MAF on 2000 Lightning
Can I safely install a 90mm MAF without a chip on a stock 2000L?
I've been told that the 2000 runs richer than the 2001-2. The larger MAF will lean the mixture but does it lean it too much?
thanks

Could you do it? Yes.
Do I suggest it? No.
If the truck is bone stock then there's not much harm, it runs rich enough at WOT to not cause much damage. However if the truck is stock or close to stock, there is no reason to need the 90mm MAF anyway, you won't gain anything from it.
Also, there are two potential problems with doing this. One is by having a different meter than the computer thinks, you alter the load tables and that can have a negative affect on your transmission. The second issue is since the meter is not corrected, it's going to skew your closed loop fuel trims, and you could wind up getting a lean code and check engine light.
