Vandenburg, AFB

I lived at Vandenburg, AFB 1968-1972, Surf, California-on NO MAP. They shot 47 Minutemen III's at a cost of 33.5 millions dollars each. This was the height of the "Cold War". Payload included GPS, Global Positioning Satellites that as you know are still in use today. Then it was "Top Secret Payload". The base is on 250,000 acres of Government Property. Needless to say I had a dirt bike back then and got closer to some of those missile shots than $eter in $oontang

the ground shakes and rocks...and you hold your ears and kiss your a$$....at 300 yards it is a rush....I was a crazy ****....

ps...oh yeah..they had to push to blow button when one of them went out of control and fragments showered over Trailer Park #7....cutting one trailer in half!! A women had her baby in her hands and a fragment hit her trailer!!! Thank God, she came out unscathed...they shut down trailer park #7....not immediately...but when trailers pulled out no new ones came in...LOL only in the military...
