ok, i am an idiot. pulled up on a curb tonight and the bumper went on top of it. Pulled off and the bumper on the right is pulled out/down and the whole right side is down prob .25-.50 inches. Can i just pull the bumper off and straighten the metal, and it should sorta look ok, except for paint? or should i have a body shop do it? it doesnt look broken, just bent and a little paint damage........any thing like this ever happen to you guys? if so, how do i get the bumper off?

Can't say I've done that with the L, plenty of other cars though.
Good luck with the fix, I'd say give it a try yourself and if your not happy with the results, then spend money with a Body Shop.

 

you probably just need to replace the support bracket. It's like $17 or so.

 

i'll check into that tomorrow. I assume it can be straightened if i just get the bumper off. it sure is an eyesore though ...argh... how much do you guys think a body shop should charge to fix/paint the spot, if only some fiberglass work and paint is needed?

 

You can take the cover off.It has several screws in different spots.Hunt them down and get them all out.Then straighten the frame.I even used a floor jack and a wood block to lift mine to bend it back.Cover can be painted while its off if its really bad.A few scratches underneath give your truck personal character.

It can be done.Can't hurt to try.

 

Least you had the benifit of doing it yourself, a jackass tow truck guy drug mine during a tow (and yes i tried to pay for the upgrade for a flatbed) 1300$ worth of damage and been trying to get the moola to have it fixed for 2 months.

I have a complete breakdown with part numbers and prices if you like it for the brakets, bumper cover ect.

if i straighten the metal, should the bumper plastic go back into the shape of the metal or will it be permantely warped.... i mean, will it need to be heated or something to return to shape?
