Is this the sensor? Does position matter when mounting?

No it doesn't I have relocated mine and have made a new bracket for it. I bolted it down with the bolt that is next to the rear bolt on the driver side fuel rail.

Thanks, I am going to mount it vertical instead of horizontal.

Does any body know of where to get a portable barometer or device that tells weather conditions (temperature, humidity and the like)?

Blackbolt -

The most accurate way to measure temp and humidity is with a Sling Psychrometer. It gives you a wet bulb temp and a dry bulb temp which is used to calculate humidity. Much more reliable and accurate than all but the most expensive electronic gizmoes. The one I use is made by Bacharach and has a sliding scale that calculates the Humidity for you. You will have to go to a Science supply store, or, sometimes HVAC suppliers will have them.

I used it before every run when I was drag racing; just part of the log I kept.
