Does anybody else have their Shackles in backwards ?

I installed my new shackles the same way my old ones came out. Both sides are the same and both seem to be opposite they way you all have them "and the directions show them" ??? WTF
I simply put the new ones back in the same way the old ones came out, open side facing the rear.

There is absolutely no way I messed up. I changed one side at a time, and looked over at the other side when re-installing them.

Does anyone else have the open side facing the rear ???

Actually if you look at them, there would be no harm putting them either way so since the old ones were backwards for 6 thousand miles, I'm leaving them. WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK ???

I put mine on open side front, but it makes no difference structural integrity wise appearance wise or otherwise.

By the looks of them I cant imagine that it would matter one way or another.

I forget which way mine are facing, but at the time I was told I did it backwards even though I put them in the way the stock ones came out. Been working fine ever since. You are okay.

I thought the only reason the factory shackles opened to the front was to clear the spring as it moves in and out.
The more the frame of the truck is pushed down towards the ground, the longer the leaf springs get. Thus the angle between the shackle and the spring gets smaller. The way you have it, it might be conceivable for the spring to hit the shackle if you ever put a huge load in the bed or maybe dropped the truck from a height.

But since I guess you'll never do either of those, I wouldn't worry about it!

I think Rob said he put them in the way the factory one's were in... In other words, open face to the BACK. So the factory one's open to the BACK... Mine were this way too...

If I were TRYING to get one of these to BREAK, I'd side load it with the open face forward. Just seems like you could get better leverage that way.

I highly doubt that you'd flex that spring enough to get the spring to contact the shackle.

You'd bottom the suspension 1st....

Glad to hear mine weren't the only ones installed that way.
Thanks Everyone.
It feels great, seems to handle a little better, and sits lower.
No complaints from me, especially for $29.95 and a 40 minute mod.

One indication that shows they are on backwards is if you tried to use the lower mounting hole, the leaf spring would not attach properly.

I'd be a little worried about a possible bind between the spring and the front of the shackle--hope not.

I'll try them out at the track this weekend, if they hit, it'll take 20 minutes to turn them around. But my stock ones were that way for 5900 Miles so I'm not expecting a problem.

I HOPE
