Intercooler pump

Hey guys I had a loss in power in my truck and could not locate what the source of the problem until 3 days ago, anfer popping the hood and having and good look I realize that the coolant in the intercooler was not ubbling or moving around. So i guess that the intercooler pump may be where my problem lies.

I have not had a chance to take it to tak eit to the dealer, to be honest I am a bit scared of those guys. They sometime abuse our vehicles when at their shop.

Where so I find the pump to make sure that it is working or not, and if it is not working should'nt the check engine light some on. And finally when I take it to the dealer, will a diagnostic check reveal that the pump is not working will the computer reveal a code to identify the sourse of the problem?

I wish I could fix it myself

sorry i/c pump not part of the computer.

if u look through the lower grill of the truck u will see first a small radiator, that is the i/c heat exchanger, behind that is a small pump, that is the i/c pump, two wires go to it, positive and negative, it is designed to come on seconds after the truck is running. look in the manual to check all related fuses and relays, if all looks good put a meter across the two wires to the pump if u get voltage there, with the truck running its the pump, if no voltage occurs then there is a wiring problem..

another small reminder, with no i/c pump running u will have very high intake temps, try and stay out of boost..

Actually the I/C pump is PCM controlled. In the calibration there is an ON temperature and an OFF temperature for the pump. The input for these temps is the IAT2 sensor located in the lower intake manifold. The temp settings are quite low. Usually the pump will be off when the truck is cold for a few minutes, then it will kick on the pump, which will usually remain on while the truck is hot. If you are checking the pump operation, make sure the truck is warmed up. I'd let it idle for at least 10 minutes. If you see no circulation, then I'd start checking fuses.

Thanks for clearing it up all the explanations I got was that it was time controlled and not monitored, but am I correct that a fault will not throw a code?
