Idea for removing JDM lower pullies (for those who had trouble).

If yours was the newer interchangable setup, there are two holes in the middle of the hub. I haven't tried this but it came to mind today. What if you took a 1 x 1/4 piece of steel flat stock, and drilled holes in it the same distance as the two holes in the hub. Put either 5/16 or 1/4 in bolts (can't remember the size), in the holes and thread nuts on them and tighten them. Put this new made tool up against the pulley and insert the two bolts sticking out into the holes on the hub, and with this, turn the hub to loosen.

What do you guys think????

Talli,

They make a "spanner" that would fit those holes ...

tallimeca,

Sence the new interchangable has a 2 9/16 nut attached to the hub, we have loaner tools in the shop for those who don't have access to those tools.

We would be more than happy to send them to anyone who needs them.

Thanks for your idea and help

That gets the pulley off the hub, but what about the hub out of the dampner jim?

No S**t, I just spent $17 to 'special order' a 14mm hex head socket. Not a single joint in town carries anything bigger than 10mm.

hmm

I had the same trouble finding a 14 mm, found a 3 pack with a 12, 14, and 17mm 1/2 drive at autozone in the back of the shelf. Boy was I lucky..

That big 2 inch nut of sort spins the whole assembly Crazy. There are 2 holes in that nut thingy, that's where i was getting my idea of the spanner type tool, but i guess some of them will fit it. But better yet, Jim has the tools.

I think that is a standard socket for 18 Wheeler lugs,
right? If so you can pick it up at a truck stop ...

It's a hex head socket (like an allen wrench), not a regular socket. Believe me, I checked everywhere before I finally had to order it. It should be here in the morning. My trucks been sitting in the driveway all weekend because I got half way thru taking it apart when I realized I needed this thing.
Hope I don't have the problems these others guys had taking off that hub.

Fly ... I meant on the NEW design for the Interchangeable one
not the stock one or the F'ked up one ... I was VERY lucky and
had a friend that had the hex head for the stock one ...
