Question Going to the track Tonight!!! Advice?

Well guys I'm going back to the track tonight. Last time out I ran 14.02 or something and it was hot and muggy. I'm hoping for a little better weather conditions and 13.XX or something.

The truck is Bone Stock. Last time I cut a 2.04 60' with 35psi in the F1's. This time I'll try 25psi.

Last time I left the line very slightly over idle speed.
This time I'll tach up to 1700rpm.

Last time I rolled thru the water in the burn out.
This time I'll go around it and do my burn out.

Should I remove my air filter? Is there a considerable gain to be had by doing this?

Any other advice on how to lower my ET will help thanks. There are things I don't want to do however - I don't want to remove the Spare, trailor hitch, passenger seat, or tailgate because I'm trying to see just how fast a L is "as is" off the showroom floor. I do have a Snuglid and I'm contemplating taking that off as the truck didn't come with it. Thanks again.

I forgot to add that the truck now has 7100 miles on it.

Bone stock + K&N and Filter Mod I ran a 13.51 in the spring.
You should be about there. Three Bunny Hop burnouts and
stage ... 1000-1200 on the revs....

Thumbs up Gool Luck Tonight

Wendy, If you cut a 2.04 short time with 35 psi, don't change too much too fast. Just air down to 25 and launch the same, you should go down to a 1.9 60'.
1700 sounds like too much. Start at 1000. Evaluate your short times. Maybe try 1200 next time.
Make small changes and evaluate your results. This will keep you on the right track.
Keep notes. The back of the time slips make for great note paper.

Also of note: 100 pounds=one tenth (take the lid off)
Also of note 2: Ten degrees=one tenth

Hope this helps.
Best of Luck Tonight.
Fred.

no need to do a burn out with street tires, they are not a race compound and actually become more slippery if a burn out is done.just make sure they are at full operating temp and just spin them enough to clean them

I'm trying to see just how fast a L is "as is" off the showroom floor.

If you remove the air filter you will see a slight increase in mph, but you won't be "as is" off the showroom floor. It's your call.

PS: Silver is Quickest!

Yeah, I know taking the airfilter off is making it "unlike showroom" condition, but its easier than taking the snuglid off . I'll prolly just yank the snuglid and keep the airfilter. Thanks for the replies guys. I'll post the results.

Talking

I'm back from da track and I got my 13sec timeslip!!!

First pass
I aired the tires down to 25psi and launched at 1300rpm and ran a 13.850 @ 99.34mph with a 2.036 60'

Second pass
Launched at almost 1500rpm and ran a 13.697 @ 100.43mph with a 1.975 60' that was my best pass of the night.

I ran several 13.7X's and had a best 60' of 1.966. Well I am happy with the performance and I think it still has a little more to give in its stock form. The temp at the track was 72F. I met a fellow board member there "OH2RED". We had fun.

Congrats on the #s.
What I would do next time is just take off your tailgate.weighs about the same as the snuglid(a little less) and it is easy to do.

That's great, Wendy! Congrats on your personal best.
You picked up over 3 tenths
Did you lighten up or remove the filter?

Nope. i didn't have time to remove the snuglid and I didn't remove the filter either. I thought I'd be barely cracking the 13's if I did everthing perfect but I was wrong . Needless to say I was impressed with how this heavy thing moves. I got a factory tech valve body on the way and I have some of JJ's stainless traction bars so I'll go back to the track and see how the better shifts and improved traction helps the ETs. Maybe as soon as Wednesday. I'll jinx myself and hope for 13.5's next time. Later and thanks to all for the helpful tips.

Yikes...I must have one of those sluggo Lightnings!

I made 12 runs at the track last night and did not get close to the 13's. Also Oddly enough, the cooler temps made little difference in the runs... I did have minor tire spin off the line, W/the F-1's

(ALL Runs averaged out were
14.49 @ 97.57 - AVG

reaction time - .554
60' - 2.3242
330' - 6.2182

1/8 - 9.3325
1/8 - 78.34 mph

1000' - 12.2243

1320' - 14.49
97.57 - mph

Could these low runs be due to the 3200 ft track altitude reckon

Arrow its your 60'

You can shave at least 4tenths off of your 60'. If I can do a 1.966 60' you can do better, I'm a rookie.
