there are several alarms that have motion sensor capabilities..
i got tired of hand/nose/forehead grease marks on my side windows after i did my stereo, and got a alarm with motion sensor.. if you try to look in, it beeps at you.. if you persist, it screams at you..

What did they do to the door handle? Is that how they got in? When the punks broke into my L they just did the 'ol smash and grab. Then they sat on the glass that landed in the seat and cut the seat all up. A-holes.

Thanks for all the good words guys. Its insured so its not a complete loss.

99_Lightning........I think they just take a knife or screwdriver and jam it up under there and it unlocks......The officer I filed the report with said that often professionals can get into the car faster this way than the owner using a key

An alarm is a must now.

sorry to hear that . those guys are hacks, they could have at least used a slim jim and not wreck your door. I broke into mine in about 30 seconds when I locked my keys in once. Its actually kind of scary after you do it once and see how easy it is. right after that I shaved my door handles off and put on a alarm. my truck doesnt even have locks any more I took all the hardware out.

well, at least someone will hear the alarm & look around at it..
the person standing by the truck will become the center of attention..

Question You're kidding right?

I hope that's a joke Doug. Chances are, the crooks already know the tricks to break in. As an owner (and one who's already been hit) the more I know about how the theives work, the better I can protect myself. I think that shutting down this thread would be a big disservice to the L community. Sometimes censorship should be a last resort.

Just my 2c

Nathan

Nathan

Havent heard from you in a while ...

I agree that informing the owners is good. However

There have been a number of these types of threads over the years - In every case Steve has removed the thread. The issue is not informing the theives.
It is in making new ones.... Just like posting intructions for anthrax or bombs on the internet is not bright neither is this. The information is out there, we just dont need to make it easier to find.

But most members see any intervention by Steve or myself as inappropriate.

I agree with Nathan. Theives already have the knowhow, or will figure it out soon enough. The best protection from a theif is to be able to think like one. Knowing their techniques gives use our best chance to keep our possessions. This not only applies with our trucks but our homes as well. These types of threads don't make it easier for theivs, it makes it more difficult for them. Once you know how the enemy thinks, you can defeat them. This thread needs to be left open.
