boog,

I did the swap by accident...

I mean I took the truck in for an inspection and the Tech was kind enough to snag my bumper cover on the edge of the lift while backing it out of the stall resulting in it being ripped from the truck. Yeah I was pissed until I realized that I was going to get the new style with the new fogs . Turned out good and I only had to do with out my truck for two days.

From what I have seen posted previously you must change the whole cover. You may be able to use the new side brackets, for the conversion so long as you are okay with cutting your cover a little. Look at the differences in the bumper covers...

99, 00 style

it has a square hole

01, 02 style

note the difference

Here are the brackets

99 style PN XLV-17E856-BD (pass side although drv is pictured)

02 style PN 1L3V-17E856-8A (pass side)

Although not seen in the picture, the 02 bracket does not mount to the back of the fog light housing like the 99.

FYI, having my bumper, cover, brackets, and lights replaced including paint, cost $1,290.00.

Since both new and old style OEM foglights are craps, I've been thinking about taking them off, and open up both foglight holes and use them as intake holes for either JL or PSP's cold air kit. At least I don't have to deal with cracked lenses anymore.

I just had my fogs replaced by way of a warranty claim. The new ones are different than the ones replaced. The reflector looks different, but only time will tell if the are any better. If it wasn't raining I would take a photo
