Question Porting the mid? intake manifold?

What are the eight intrusions for? Are they to direct airflow, mold reasons, strength? I was going to remove them if they aren't important. I don't think they are hollow, from the underside they don't appear to be.

I d/k but I bet they're there for some reason. I wouldn't grind them off/down unless someone else has done it before...............

The screws that hold the intercooler onto the midplate have got to have somewhere to go. If you grind those off, all that will happen is that it might expose the threads that come in from the bottom. Dale

I highly doubt that those could be restricting much airflow at all!

When you stick the blower case on top w/o the rotors it looks like the first two 'bumps' would cause some turbulance. I'm not an expert though. I would also think that the underside of the blower would cause alot of turbulance. i'm not sure how much it matters because all of the air is being forced through with so much pressure.??

Ah. Now that I think about how fast the air actually travels through there... Its possible those could restrict airflow a tad bit.

Rather than remove them they might benefit from a little reshaping and smoothing. Just a little clean up.

I was just going to suggest that.

Put some JB weld before them (towards the front) and shape that to make a little ramp, or smoother transistion for the air to go over them.

Make sure you guys put 'JB weld' in your list of mods...

On second thought...maybe not...we don't want to start 'epoxy wars' like the 'washer wars', 'chip wars', and 'TB wars'.

Okay, I did it. I hope it works out okay. If not I guess I can get the old 99/00 blower, intercooler, and intake from karkraft at the low price of $895.

...
And get the intercooler leak mod??

I may just do that also. But since the blower is taking longer then expected I may have to wait until winter storage to do that. Not enough time to do everything before Fords @ Englishtown
