Body rust already
Body rust already
Has anyone ever developed rust along the seam at the bottom of either door? My 99 has 35,900 miles and is bubbling up like crazy on the drivers side door. I noticed it a few months back as I was drying out the inside of the door, and it has been getting worse. The dealer applied rustproofing when I bought the truck because it was my everyday vehicle. It has seen three winters, and is cleaned every 3-4 days (even in winter). I am out of my mileage warranty, but the rust proofing warranty should still apply... the dealer is conveniently having a hard time locating the "right" paperwork. Seems like what I have isn't enough.
Anyone else have this problem? I have seen it on quite a few newer F-150's.

yes, my 98 f150 did it on both doors, so when i got my 2000 L with 17k miles on it, i immed. took some white silicone and sealed the weld joints, have not seen any bubbling..
i hope the dealer treats u better on your claim than the last time i tried a rust claim, they stated it had to be rusted through
..

There is TSB 01-9-8 that states:
It states that it's covered under the bumper to bumper warranty, but the 5yr corrosion warranty is stricktly limited to body perforation; meaning the rust would have to actually go through the door.

Some vehicles may exhibit corrosion at the hem flange at the bottom of any door/tailgate where the outer panel is folded over the inner panel. This may be caused by the adhesive absorbing water during the production process
