I've never raced one at the track. On the street I handle them easily. I'd hate to race one in a canyon though, those little suckers really stick to the road with the all wheel drive. I can say that I would own one if the right situation came up.

I think this topic has been up several times. The WRX is a nice little pocket rocket. It is great in the curvy's and on wet pavement. But when it comes down to it the Lightning will have no problems with that car. The only time I can think that a WRX might win will be in a torential downpour from a stoplight vs. a Lightning with balding tires and a driver that can't launch. But someone may disagree with me.

I spank those things weekly. Roasted one at the track pretty bad to. I think those are the ugliest looking cars next to those KIA's!

they will get a lightning out of the hole just because they can dump the clutch at about 5k rpms's but soon after, the lightning will be in the lead. keep in mind, they are just as easily modded as a lightning.

Thumbs up WRX

The other night I saw my friend's moded WRX killed new M3 by 3 cars. He runs 13.2 in 1/4 mile. My stock L runs 13.78 in 1/4 mile.

I think on the street It'll be close race.

The ones at the SCCA are running 1/5 faster times than
us Lightning drivers ... and ours aren't stock by a far cry ...
Nice wheels for the "twisties"

I think a stock 99/00 Lightning against a stock WRX would be dead even...I've never lined up with one but as I came up behind one once, He caught me off guard and WOT and I did also.. We played cat and mouse and as soon as it seemed like i was about to pass, I edged over to the next lane and he mashed the brake and got off an exit..

Boy was I ticked...

my 99 was stock when this happened..

I'm only chipped now with an air raid intake filter..Don't know what the outcome would be now

My buddy jay has one and its a pretty sweet car but its not all that fast and those cars are made for road racing if anything the way they handle. that car drives like my brothers Audi TT quatrro to a T.

WRX runs nice but AWD really highlights the turbo lag. Like a previous poster suggested, if the driver revs to 5K and dumps the clutch, it's gonna squirt real fast. But from what I read from their boards, a lot of dealers have been voiding warranty on WRXs with mangled trannies. I personally wouldn't mind having one to kick around, but the One Who Must Be Obeyed thinks it's ugly.

I have raced my next door neighbors for chits and giggles and it wasn't even close. I put the smackdown on him so bad from a dead stop and a 25 mph roll.........and mine is factory stock atleast that is what I told him

I saw one at moroso in Florida, and it had everything that u can do to it done. I can beat a stock lightning i think it ran like a 12.4 or 12.5. I personnaly like the car and was thinking of getting one but just the fact of having a fast truck makes me want to keep it and never get rid of it. I love pulling up to the ricers and beating them everytime in a truck.
