No Converters can I........

Hey.. I want to gut my converters on my 93 and am having a very difficult time trying to find some one to do it.... Two places said ok ( I know both of them personally) then when they see were the front ones are the back out and say get an aftermarket system.. Really wouldnt mine that, then i can replace them 2 yrs from not at emissions inspection time ... Are there any out the that comes with no converters and just a port for the o2 sencer... If so how about were did you get um and part number and price if you have them..

You'd be better off getting an aftermarket system rather than gutting the cat. Gutting the cat won't give any power b/c the hollow chamber will make the airflow very turbulent. An exhaust should be a tuned system.

If you go without the cats, you'll need 02 simulators. The 02 after the cat just tells the computer that the cats are still good...they always read lean to the computer. If the rear 02 starts to read rich than the computer "thinks" the cats are bad and throws a code. An 02 simulator just gives the computer a lean reading all of the time to avoid this if you delete the cats. Hope this post makes sense.

It makes sence to me but on the stock exhaust system the o2 sencer is before the cats i think .. so im a little confused about the simulator..

I think what he is thinking of is the Gen2s.Since you have a gen1 they don't have O2 past the cats so you don't have to worry. But to be honest if you buy an aftermarket system the cats don't hurt the performance of the vehicle that much in fact they can help it.Only advantage I can see is the noise will be more.Stan

By removing the cats you aren't really adding much of ANYTHING. You will lose torque if anything and pollute the Earth at the same time...what kind of accomplishment is that?
