Intake or just a K&N

I was thinking about buying an Intake for my 2001 Lightning but some people told me to just put a K&N in it and it will do the same thing because no hot air will be sucked up. What should i do? Is the intake worth the extra money??

Do a search.
This has been discussed SO many times and you will get SO many opinions. Its better for you to search yourself then try to weed through the differing opinions.

SilverSCrew02, unless you are running more than stock boost, the K&N will work just fine. If you increase the engine's demand for air, then you will want to either cut holes in the airbox (which helps even w/o added boost) or install an aftermarket air kit from one of the tuners.

Good luck!

As 01L said, if you're going to get a pulley(extra boost) then I recommend PSP's Fast Air kit. It will bring outside air into and all around the 12" filter while the metal box helps keep the hot eng. air away.

The thing already whines enough. How about a magnaflow instead to remind people that there is an engine powering that supercharger.

Anyone know if amsoil makes an oiled foam air filter for the L?
