over the kenwood it has an mp3 player, however no tv tuner. I would go with the kenwood kvt-911dvd. It's the best on the market in my opinion, and if you want you can add an mp3 player but the kenwood plays vcd's, dvds, am/fm radio, cd-r's, regular cd's, and it has a tv tuner! If you can afford it then its the way to go!

You didn't list an Alpine IVA-C801 ... not looking for an in-dash cd-player too?

Unless you're trying to save money, stay away from the 1006.

oh ya, the kenwood also has one of the most amazing built in equalizers, will make your system sound 100 times better! It also has built in x-overs!

touch screen, mp3 playback, full 7" screen, and good visual interface with plenty of eye candy

most screens are 6.5" and the visual interface is boring and a total waste of the lcd

Out of all the ones we've gone through, Clarion is leading the pack. I love them, bright 7" inch screen, very easy to clean off as well. One of the great "little" features about this unit is that when it is recessed or the screen is not displayed, there is still a display to show you what cd track # or radio station is playing. ALL the other units don't have any sort of display when the screen is not out.

A little feature that puts Clarion ahead of the pack in my books.

The Alpine is great when combined with other units, but by itself, it dosn't do much.

The AI-NET capability makes it and extremely versitle media controller with exceptional signal-noise and other functions.

If you plan on spending an additional few grand on top of the primary brain, then its a great unit. (You'll need a DVD player, navigation unit, xm radio module, tv radio module, mobile mayday, DSP unit, etc). They work great together.

If you're sticking to only one or two components, the Clarion or Kenwood are excellent buys.

Yeah, the Alpine stuff is really nice, but so is the other stuff. The big attraction of Alpine is the Ai-Net interfacing. If you aren't going all-Alpine it has no great advantage.
