Hey Don,

They said all the complaining has paid off. A 12" rim would have worked better with the 14.50's. They said some people had a 12" rim specailly made, and the tired hooked up well.

But a 12 inch rim is not readilly available.

They should replace the tires for all of us who had the 14.5 QTP

They know it was a mistake making them that wide

Thumbs up

I just got off the phone with Faron at hoosier

The new 28x11.50x16 QTP's will have the same tread width(10inches) as the 28x10x16 slicks. The rubber compound will be slightly harder to pass the DOT testing.

This is good news, they should work much better with a 10 inch wheel, than the 28x14.5x16 QTP's.

I am trying to get them moving on these tires, I would like to get a set before Fords At Englishtown. If they can get them done in time, I will bring them allong with my regular slicks, and let someone use the nre DOT tires for the weekend.

I think we should all call Hoosier and get them moving on these tires 1-574-784-3152

Good job on the follow-up of these 11.50 Hoosiers Donald. Sounds like a winner all the way around with the exception of the slightly harder compound. I wonder how much harder they have to be to keep up with the DOT specs. I like Hoosier but like a sore *****, I just can't beat the first pair of MT ET streets I had. I wish someone from MT would get on the ball, but I will buy whatever is available.

Get-n-Go

Don

I don't want to open a sore wound BUT .. I have MT et streets on Spare rims and a borrowed set of the 14.5 QTP's

ON the MT ET's last weekend I was pulling 1.74 60 foots BUT was spinning some after I got about 50 foot off the line.

I was hoping the QTPs would help me lower my personal best since they are wider and taller...

Do you have any recommendations I can use to make the best of them ?

Thanks
Doug

Hey Doug
I have a set of the 28x11.5-16's

Why don't I send them down to you, then ship them back to me in the spring. I know you don't do a ton of racing so I am not to concerned that you will put a ton of runs on them.

I'll get a hold of you during the week if that sounds cool

Don

Don

I appreciate the offer. Very Generous.

I plan to buy a set of the 11.5's in the spring when Hoosier makes some more... BUT the immediate issue is that likely that last race of 2002 is tomorrow morning at Hallsville

TALON is sponsoring an Lightning only bracket race. I am bringing BOTH sets of slicks in case I cant get the QTPs to hook ... But I knew you had experience with them and was hoping you could at least tell me where to start...

Doug

Well I know you guys do not like the 28x14.5x16s but you cannot deny the results.
1.59 60ft WITHOUT skinnies(actually I had my "HEAVY A$$" 20s on).

THE NUMBERS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES.

Jim was driving my truck at the time.

And to be fair .The 8# pulley didn't hurt.

Let me think

If you are loosing traction about 50 ft off the starting line maybee you have to much air in the M/T's I don't know what the right psi for those is.

As far as the QTP's you have, how wide are the rims?? I hope they are 10" wide.
Try them at 27psi thats what worked best for me.

When does the track reopen down there, I can't be closed that long.

The tracks are open all year ... But since there are only a couple weekends left this year - And as you said I dont race a lot... This will likely be the last race for me in 2002..

Rims are 10"

I ran the ETs at 17-18 hot... Seemed to work good.
Ill probloby try both
