REM Oil Seperator pics

Just installed the REM Oil Seperator and its a real nice quality.

Sorry for the bad quality but you should be able to see the oil in the reservoir. Its about an 1\8th of an inch and thats only after driving about 10 miles. Looks like I'll be doing some porting this winter.

PS- REM also had real fast service and were a pleasure to deal with.

How much and what does this mod actually do? I have a 2001L with 7,900 miles and for the past 2 weeks it starts smoking black smoke from a cold start. Will this help me or do I have bigger concerns and should take it in and have Techs look at it?

Any help would be appreciated.

This keeps the oil from building up in the intake and behind the throttle body. If you ever had you throttle body off you would know what I am talking about.

I dunno about your smoking on start up...better have that checked out ASAP:o

I saw Lightning#838's oil seperator after a day of driving, and it was like 1/4 full! Great mod from REM!

A good rule of thumb is to empty it every time you gas up

I think it's about $49 from REM. Very easy to install. You remove a hard plastic line, put this in its place. Maybe 30 seconds to install.

49.00 from Razors Edge Motorsports. They are a new supporting vendor and can be reached at 954-917-9200. It takes about 10 secs. to install with no tools.

How much oil are you guys consuming between changes? I haven't checked my TB since I haven't put many miles on the new motor. However, I'm going to check it tonight.

Question what type of brass fittings?

RhinoSlug,
I've assembled all the parts to make the oil seperater mod. I have the exact same air filter you have shown.
The only parts I'm not clear on are the brass fittings.
The two fittings that are screwed into the filter itself; are they NPT (barbed) hose end fittings or are they male quick coupler fittings?
I picked up some from Northern Hydaulics. They were pretty cheap so I thought I would get one of each.

I've read other posts about this mod and one person said their fittings were the male quick couplers.

But I would think you would want the barbed hose repair fittings that would slide up in either hose and not pull out.

Please let me know what type of fittings your REM kit came with.

Thanks,

Eric

I just got mine from REM, it has the barbed ends, you just slide them into the ends of the hose
