10 Best Places to Speed
Check out pages 74 & 75 of this month's (Oct.) issue of Automobile Magazine. It lists the 10 best places to speed (worldwide). In addition to the specific location, it lists a suggested vehicle in which to enjoy the fast ride.
While three of the locations are in the U.S. (1 location each in CA, NV and TX), the suggested vehicle for the location in Argentina caught my eye: Ford SVT F-150 Lightning, of course!
FYI, The cars listed for the U.S. locations are Enzo Ferrari, Dodge Viper and McLaren F1. For the other worldwide locations (Australia, Great Britain, Germany [2], Spain and France/Italy [Alps]), the cars listed are Lotus Exige, BMW M3 CSL, Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VII, Porsche 911 C4S, and Audi RS6.
Pretty cool to have our L considered in such company.

Hmmpf!
Obviously they have never heard of the Canadian Autobahn, yes we have one...its called the 407ETR. If you are not doing at least 145-150KPH you are getting passed by everybody!!
I remember zipping across the 407 at 180kph and getting passed by at least 40 of 50 cars.

Didn't read the article, but HWY 10 in Texas, once you get outside of El Paso, is basically not monitored. The same goes for HWY 10 going through New Mexico. Have traved this highway many times, but not in the L yet.

Hey Ollie,
According to "Automobile", the USA locations are as follows:
CA: "Mrs. Orcutt's Driveway". This road parallels I-40 East of Barstow and was built to service a landowner cut off by the freeway. Straight and level for miles and deserted. Used for clandestine magazine testing for years. While still open to speed evaluation by the CHP, unlikely to encounter any patrols.
NV: SR 447, Wadsworth to Gerlach. Unlikely to see many other cars, let alone a cop. Be aware, however, that part of the road goes through the Pyramid Lake indian reservation and they generate revenue with speeding tickets.
TX: US 90, West Texas. Wide open, light traffic. Probably won't encounter speed enforcement but if you do, well, have you ever seen the jail scenes in "Traffic"?
Happy Haulin',

If you really want to let it all hang out get your a$$es out here and run the Silver State with Ruslow. 90mi as fast as you can go. Should be enough of a rush to hold you over till next year.
