I wonder if this will scare other mechanics about taking the car/truck for that test drive they would like to.

That is seriously messed up poop. That SVT tech would come up missing very quickly. Let me call my uncles Moose and Rocco.

Unfortunately it will only scare them into not writing about it...they will still take those kind of test drives.

I had a first year SHO... got it back form the dealers (back in 89) and the inside of the front wheel wells had rubber all around the inside fender... the tech took it out and really road tested it... this was my second car form the dealership and I beleive the tech was fired over the incident.

The best defense against this is stay with the vehicle for warranty repairs. Obviously, if you need a new engine it will need to be left for a few days, weeks. I need to take mine in to have a leaky A/C compressor looked at. And I will be sitting in the waiting room all 8 hours if I need to. It is worth the lost wages to sit with my truck for a few hours. Also, make a mental note of the mileage if it is a repair where it requires the tech to go for a test ride. A reputable dealer will not object to you going along with the tech. In fact, tell him to "get on it" once just to show him you're not a @ick.

Also, try a Lincoln/Mercury dealer. They pay better attention to detail.

There's basis for a civil suit here.
I hope the owner pushes the issue!
