dissapointning dyno results

I dyno'd my 02 L stock: 350rwhp/420rwtq sae corr.

I added a JLP 5# lower pulley, air intake, and their chip and got 367 rwhp/460rwtq sae corr.
17 HP and 40 ft lbs torque??? I wanted 380+ hp and 490 tq.

Stock, my power peaked at 5200 rpm, with these mods it peaks at 4850, then really falls off, back to stock levels at 5400

Was I expecting too much?

Does the L require time to "learn" these mods and run better after a while?

My A/F ratio was 12.4 to 12:1 stock, now it's 11.6 to 11.4:1

My stock lower pulley was 7 7/8" diameter, the new one is 9", could they have sent me the wrong one? My boost gauge used to read 7#, now it reads 10, shouldn't it be higher?

Don't get me wrong, I can really feel the additional torque, and it shifts much crisper with the chip, but...

What do you guys think?

That doesn't sound right at all. You should be around 380ish... How long was the chip in beforn the 2nd dyno? Sometimes it takes the truck time to learn the new settings. The stock boost guage isn't accurate at all... so I wouldn't count on it. Last thing, you may want to check your Boost Actuator. Some say their's didn't come right from the factory... and they feel a big difference after they set it right.

Heres the link for the Boost Actuator guide...

Its about half way down the page.

Good luck.

I have to agree- check your boost actuator adjustment. I just set mine on my o2 L last weekend and it drives like a completely different truck- I can't believe the difference. Also I did the boost bypass at the same time so it could be a combination of both but whatever it worked great!!!!

Cool

quiksilver,

The 5# is 8 3/4" and the 6# is 9" but don't measure the outside lip. Measure where the groove are. The stock pulley should be 7.47" or about 7 1/2". Add a 1/2" for every 2#'s of boost. JLP pulleys usually have the number, in this case 5, stamped into the metal on the backside where it bolts into the crankshaft damper.

Stock 7 1/2"
2# 8"
4# 8 1/2"
5# 8 3/4"
6# 9"

You might take a look at that boost actuator. You should have gained the HP you got plus another 20 more ft lbs. of torque from the pulley alone.

If you look closely there is a number 4 stamped in the 9 o'clock position on the back of the pulley.
