Anderson Ford power pipe

I ordered the '02 power pipe from anderson ford and I must say this is the worst fitting POS I have ever seen. Did anyone else with this piece have fitting problems? Was cutting required and if so where did you modify the boot?I am considering using something else.. Volant perhaps?????? But I would like to use this since I already have it

Mine required about 1/2 inch or so of the rubber grommet to be cut with a razor knife on the throttle body end.

was the fit tight? I have been measuring and sizing it up and it looks like 2.5 inches are what I might have to take off maybe less if everything slides into place

Yes,the fit is very tight, the filter is right up against the fender hole.
You may want to adjust the angle of the pipe a little in order to get the amount of rubber grommet cut, down to at least an inch or less.
I think they did a terrible job designing the fit,or at least the length of the rubber grommet but you can get it to fit right.
I suggest you take off no more than 1/2 to 3/4 inch at first and then try adjusting the angled powerpipe around and if you have to cut more, just cut a little more at a time.

It is a pain, but you can make it fit right.
Try looking at pictures of it installed on there website so you can get it to fit fairly close to how they show it installed with as little cutting as possible.

It is a pain; but, it does fit. Just takes patience. And a couple of beers. Volant has finally come out with a kit that works on the 90mm MAF trucks. Too bad they sold so many that didn't work beforehand. They ought to make good on the BS kits and do a trade out.

thanks for the input guys... I am gonn mess with it and see what I can figure out... I was hesitant to cut on the boot incase I sent the thing back, but it looks like they charge a 20% restocking fee. Just pisses me off that I ask the guy on tech line if that boot had to be modded before I bought the thing and he said no....

still no luck this has to be the worst fitting product I have ever seen. it still does not want to fit correctly its too tight almost like the filter is too long and I have cut an inch off of the rubber boot.... Not sure what to do at this point, but I am tired of getting burned on parts for this thing... I am very tempted to get an '03 cobra instead, any more suggestions on how to make this turd work?

Sounds like a fine piece of engineering. I hope the thing gives ya some performance increase with all the crap it takes to get it to fit.

The only other thing i can tell you is,it has to be installed in the truck with all the sections in place.
In other words, you will never get the filter off after install, unless you get the other sections loose first ,and you will not be able to get the rubber grommet or maf off without unscrewing the sections nex't to them ect.
Put everything together in place in the truck but leave the power pipe/grommet section in place but don't fully tighten the screws on that section yet...then you force the t/b grommet end onto the t/b by making it oval shaped with your hands and slightly turning it ,side to side, once you get the grommet on the t/b side fully seated, then adjust the power pipe slightly and tighten.

It does seem like if the filter were an inch or two shorter, this thing would go together a lot easier..and it is a pain in the **** to install initially... i have had mine since last winter when they first came out...you would think they would improve on the design by now.

I am going out to wrestle with this thing some more here in just a few. I tried what you said last night Odin, but it get it very close to fitting but not quite there. If it were to fit like that it would be VERY tight. I think returning this thing is not an option since I trimmed on the boot a little already. Perhaps if it does not cooperate for me I will sell it, we'll see what happens.. Thanks for the input guys
