weight vs.traction

I am going to the track soon and I was planning on taking my hitch, spare tire, and tailgate off. Do you think this will help because of the reduced weight or will i have less traction. I really want to know will it be faster with or without the weight in the back.

I have never been to th track so I do not know what the track conditions are. thanks

In my opinion- the lighter you are the faster you will go for a given horsepower but less weight in the rear will make launching more difficult. You will have to learn what works best on your track with your truck by experience. Have fun
