JLP Ramair install ?

I put the JLP cold air box on my L yesterday, as much as I could anyway. I am missing at least the flexible duct, and they weren't answering the phone, all day Friday. Thanks, I feel better.
One big question remains, however. How is the box supposed to be mounted? I'm not comfortable with it just being pushed in place by the duct to the throttle body. Can't it raise up and hit the hood? How have others fixed it in place?

It just pushes in. between the flexible duct holding it down and the rubber hose to the throttle body its pretty tight.

don't know if this will work on an L ..because i dont have one but the way i installed it on my 4.6 was to drill two holes in the bottom corner where there are two hex head bolts for the cruise control bracket ..removed the two bolts and went throught the box then the bracket...take a look on yours..

Quicksilver,

There is a slot on the box that slides onto one of the mounting brackets on the radiator fluid container. It will keep it from moving.

Quiksilver,

I was concerned about the same thing so I drilled 2 holes in the bottom of the box that line up with the stock air cleaner rubber mounts (you have to take it all back out to see them. Then I put bolts in the holes and used washers to get the box to the height I thought was right (I set it up so the intake hose to the throttle valve was not under any kind of tension. I put putty around the top edge of the box and closed the hood carefully. I wound up cutting the box out for the rib in the hood and reworking the brkt in the fender panel holding the valve ??? for more clearence for the box. My hose was too short so I picked 1 up locally. I just turned it into the bottom of the box, it works fine. I also put 2 clamps on the bottom of the hose, 1 on the brkt to the steering box and 1 on the hose. It has been trouble free for several months and 5,000 miles.

Pump: sounds like a good answer, but a lot of work. was considering drilling two small holes in the box, and using a wire tie through the stock mounting holes. Too low-tech?

Quiksilver,

The reason I drilled the holes and added the bolts was to give the box something to sit on. The inlet hose will not line up properly (in my opinion) with the mass flow sensor and the throttle body without some kind of spacers between the box and the original a/c mounting brkt. The inlet hose was supporting the end of the box before I added the bolts. My concern was I would open the hood and find the hose partially connected with raw air being sucked into the blower. You are right it takes a few mintues to drill the holes and put the proper amount of washers and the nuts on. The bolts should be a little long (1/4 inch) so they stick into the gromets. I drilled the holes oversize and used fender washers next to the box to speed up the job.
