help with paint and windows, few questions

Ok I need some help here please....I have a 2 month old Red L. I washed it last weekend and after I dryed her off really good I noticed I had a million water spots all over the truck. Now I don't know if they are really water spots, but they sorta look like the outlines of waterspots. You can really see it all over the truck and especially on the windows/mirrors when the light hits it good.

Needless to say I think it looks like dog *** and to me its gotta go. So here's my questions.....how do I get rid of them. I'm plan on getting some liquid glass wax and using that , but I won't put it on until I can get rid of ALL the little spots on the trucks paint, and windows/mirrors.

I used the zaino soap to wash the truck last time. Someone help me out please.

I dryed the truck in the garage out of the sun with a absorber

thanks

From my experience I have derrived this...the faster you dry when done washing, the less watter spots you have. Also if your water is "hard" then you will have a greater chance for water spots.

dawn, clay bar, wash, zaino/wax, detail spray... *usually* works.

Me too

I had that same problem this weekend and seemed worse than usual...I'm gonna try washing it in the shade if possible or early in the morning when it's still cool outside...If you have a nice flood light you could do it at night I would rather not have to clay bar my baby after every wash. On real desparate occasions I hand wash the front to get the bugs off, then wash the rest at a quarter wash place outta the sun.

K, I can take it to a wash and do it under the bays and dry it there and drive it back and then maybe do some wax in the garage. Hope that works.

Anyone else got any other ideas , or hints that might help me out some?

same problem

water from my hose will do it but nothing beats when the sprinkler system comes on and showers my truck. we have an inground well and forget it!!! Had my passenger glass and rear slider replaced because the spots wouldn't come out. I used the mothers paint cleaner/polish/wax/instant detailer system and they came out great, just learned i can't park in my driveway anymore when the sprinkler is on. My sister's brand new focas is trashed 10 x worse. I've gone over her hood 2 times with the 3m rubbing compound and you can still see them faintly. Here's what i found....

The No. 7 polishing compound will take the spots off the glass. Use a wet rag and dab with water as needed. Try to keep it from running on the paint because it leaves a film and will need to be cleaned as well.

Wash your truck at dawn, dusk, or in the shade. Never wash your truck when the truck feels warm or hot to the touch. Hope this helps.

Cal. car duster "squeegie"

From their catalog this item moves most water off fast for very quick drying. I FU with chamois. Dry entire truck in less than 4 min. Hopefully one of posted suggestions will get spots off.

Clay bar will definetely work! Takes off everything but the damn paint. As far as waterspotson the windaow, get a 50/50 mix of distilled water & vinegar. Took lake water spots off my jet ski.....mostly anyway...then I followed with clay bar.

boo to the vineger

was told that by everyone, even bought the industrial windex with vineger and that didn't work either. Rubbing compound is the only thing. Was told that by the guy who replaced my windows. But insurance covered the replacement so i went with that. I think massachusetts is one of the few states that has comprehensive insurance for glass. But when you can't see out of them at night, it's a safety issue.

Zman, i used to use liquid glass before i switched to zaino, and if the water spotting isn't too crazy and covering the entire truck, but just some spots here and there, the liquid glass will take them off when you use it. My truck's black so i get them all the time, and the LG would always take them right off. O yeah, there is no wax in liquid glass You can't use it over wax either...needs to be stripped

Could I strip the old wax using Dawn liquid soap to wash the vehicle? Would that be sufficient enough?

Great responses guys, thanks a ton, gonna try a few of them tomorrow morning at 6am!

Keep em coming!
