size of thread on driver side of block for coolant temp sensor???

anybody know the size of the plug on the driver side?

I have a customer that has an 01 Harley (now KB supercharged) that now wants Fuel/Boost/Temp guages, I can't find a spot to install the sending unit for the temp guage. I thought about removing the plug on the driver side of the block and putting the sender there like I think JDM does on the electric fan kits, but the sending unit for this guage is only 1/8NPT thread, it comes with an adapter/reducer that is 1/4 to 1/8, but 1/4 is still not big enough.

My question is does anybody have any idea where I can put this sending unit? the intake is plastic. or does anybody know what size that the treads are in that hole in the side of the block so I can try to find a reducer to make the 1/4 sender fit?

thanks.

later,
chris

Try a pipe bushing that is 3/8" on the outside and 1/8" on the inside. Ace Hardware for about a buck.

If its the same as the 4.6L block, then the plug size is 3/8". Autometer has adapters for 3/8" to 1/8" senders. It is a great realiable place for the sender. Used that location on the GT.
