The overcast reaches all the way up here. And I see

You guys and gals in LA hang on tight to your trucks!
She is supposed to hit at New Orleans on Thursday.

Yep, I'm in New Orleans right now.

Not too bad yet. Strong Gusts of wind, etc.

Not sure where to park my truck though... High chance my carport is gonna fall over. So I got it between my house and my neighbhors. hrmmm... Might make a run for a local garage.

Maybe if my truck gets blown away, then I'll get some money for it and be able to buy an L

Trust me, do not underestimate a Tropical Storm or Category I hurricane. Nawlins is already below sea level isn't it? I hope the storm moves through quickly(less rain in each area).

Here on the coast of N.C. we are starting to get a little concerned about the other two storms. They have some serious potential, hopefully they will head to sea!!

whats bad is

that the eye of that storm is aiming to hit just west of the mississippi river. what that means is that the river's flow will be restricted or even slightly reversed and there will be no drainage out of the already below sea level city. this could get bad...really bad. and what really pisses me off is that I was going back to the dragstrip tomorrow!! DAMN THAT ISADORE.

I believe I heard our pumping system can handle the water from a Category 3 hurricane.

We are a lot better prepared than when other storms came through... of course, I'm not that prepared. Tomorrow I'll have to make a run for beer and beef jerky, then I'll be set for a few weeks.

The pumping stations can handle 2" of rain every hour. New Orleans has the best flood control in the world. that is for places that are at or below sea level. i live right by the lake, so my house is actually about 6' above sea level, so It never floods by my house. And we have the 20' levees to protects us from the lake.

If I see a news clip of a real darned shiney truck floating down the street, I'll think of you Intel486.

I believe I'll wait a bit before checking out Nawlins.

Best of luck to yall out there.

Actually, mine would be the picture of the shiney truck smashed by a POS carport Bring it on wind!

In the may of like 95'? flood water here came up to the edge of my front porch and right at the edge of the backdoor. It was basically right below the top edge of my slab.

Hopefully we won't be seeing any flood water like that though.

Hello lightninkid,

Houston???? I lived there when I was a kid. Actually I lived in stinkadena. I remember a couple of tropical storms comming in out there that would flood us out of our house. It seemed like a couple times a year we would have to clean mud off our floors. As a kid we got a kick out of playing in the Bayous, but I am sure our parents didn't see it as fun.

Welcome to the forums, by the way.

Intel, I put some pics of my truck in my gallery...no swirls.LOL
