Sub's And your thoughts?

Ok right now I have 3 of the ID subs in my truck and I'm very happy with them but like speed I want more!!! I want so much that it rattles your brain!!!

I can fit 5 of these with no problem at all in my truck with a custom enclosure, but I might be able to get 6 in there if I really try?

What do you guys think?

Joe your sub box you have now is awesome, I can't wait to see what your new setup will look like. If you can get 5 subwoofers in it, that will be something out of this world.

I am going a totally different route than anyone here this winter.

I am going to be using some Focal 5 3/8 subwoofers. I allready have 2 sets of Facal Poly Kevlars from my 99 F150 that will be going in. I had planned to do it last winter, but my truck was stuck in NJ all winter, LOL.

I plan to use 4 of these, I am not sure if I am going to fire them out or down, but I plan to make the box removable when I race.

I was looking for the focal utopia subs myself but they just don't make anything that can go in that small of an enclosure.

I had two ID 15" subs in my Z28. They were great for solid/tight bass, which I needed for SPL+. However, they didn't put out the DB's of some other "looser" subs w/ more flex. Personally I like the solid hit of the ID's, but you can get much more punch from other brands made for competition.

One other thing, most other subs rely on a lot more space due to more movement of air. You can always stuff the box, which helps some.

Ya they are sized wierd
5 3/8
11 inch
13 inch
and 15 inch

No 10 inch available

I am not looking for earth quake type bass, just a clean fill bass for my truck. Also since I allready have Focals It would be cool to keep all the componets the same brand. Plus I like to do thing a little different than everyone else

Hey don, do you think those 5" speakers will make that much bass?

I wonder how many other those I could fit behind my seat? 20? 30? might be interesting, HEHEHEHEHE.

Wow,

When I saw the Kicker bronco and the yellow van, it looks like they use smaller Square subs, but couldn't tell what size,

Joe,

If you really want some BASS, here is what I would do:

~$120 Each - (3) Alpine SWR-1241D Subs (Coils bridged in parrallel to 2Ohms)
~$215 Each - (3) Apline MRD-M300 Amps
~$50 Each - (2) Legacy LCA100RD Caps

Each sub gets it's own amp to push it, and run two caps in parrallel to power the amps. Make a custom encloser and amp rack to have the amps layed out with the caps between them.

Im doing the same but with two Type R's and the MRD-M500, and expect it to pound hard... I can only imagen three Type R's with 900watts RMS between them.

while in the parking garage (to hide from golf ball size hail) the other nite, a guy had a singe Digital Design 15" sub in his little honda, sounded awesome from inside, but outside, the entire car rattled, sounded really odd.

When I get some subs, I think'm i'm going with the R's from Alpine, like L-boy suggested.

But Kicker is from my local town, so not shure, HAHA

Well with 5 ID's at a 1.6 ohm load and my rockford amp putting out around 1300 watts at that point I'll have 260 wattts per subwoofer and the ID's are rated at 250 RMS power handling.

The ID's are not SPL monster's, but they still rattle ever bone in your body and SOUND AWESOME doing it when you have enough of them. There so tight and clean and thats the main reason I want to do them. I like the cleaner tighter bass.

You're sick!!!

Why not see how many 8's you could stuff back there. That would definately be unique, and be able to get good SQ and SPL.
