Is it normal for your exhaust tips to get really black?

Just got the Silver Bullet put in on Tuesday and after just two days my exhaust tips are really black? is this normal so soon? am I running to lean? My old exhaust tips were charged black, like charcoil from a barbque pit, is this normal?

Yes it's normal. The lack of lead in fuel causes this, plus a rich condition may contribute also. Don't worry, very normal.

It's normal. These trucks run rich from the factory.

It is time the truth was told on this blackening of the tips.
After several months of research, I have discovered that it is caused by running over, and throwing RABBIT DUNG onto the pipes. This also causes the terrible smell that is associated with the blackening.

Mine have been sooty from the first day I owned the truck. Only time they weren't were with the low power/towing side of my chip (no clue why not, weird, eh?) Rich is good for forced induction, lean burning kills parts.

The 00L ran richer then the 01's and 02's because tuners say they are leaned out more but, a chip will set you up better hopefully ! Also if you don't like the soot for cruise night, go to ACE hardware and ask for CapeCod Polishing clothes it's the best item I've found yet for cleaning them quickly! You'll be amazed by results. Later !
