6lb vs. 8lb pulley

I posted this in the HD forum as well, but I realize that most of you have no reason to visit over there. So here you go:

Just curious,
Has anyone that has switched from a 6lb to an 8lb pulley dynoed the results? I have a friend who has an 8lb pulley and his truck only makes 5rwhp more than mine. This is on the same dyno, with the same outside temp. However he does have 10-15 ft/lb more torque. I have also run both trucks at the track, and they are virtually identical.

In addition, if I remember correctly, Trucking magazine did an article on L blower upgrades and I think they mentioned that they only noticed minimal gains by increasing boost levels by 2 pounds--12 pounds to 14.

I've been debating on the 8lb lower, but I'm not sure if the extra pressure on the motor is justified.

I gained 2/10ths with an 8# from a 6# so forget about the dyno.
What you should consider is how much you like your stock rods

You won't get a lot of HP, but the torque should jump up. I am would guess 15-20lbs of torque depending on the tune.

From what I understand from one of my local tuners, anything over 6#s the gains are small.Just not worth the strain on your motor.

Best looking HD I have see. 2 wheels or 4. Those number sound about right. What are you running for an upper? There is a fine line between boost and efficientcy.

TZR, It is a Keystone fiberglass hood and the price is $595. They sell a kit to make the hood functional, but it is designed for a stock F150 cylinder style air box. Not sure if they specifically make one for the SC motor. I bought mine from stylinconcepts.com

Spankdog, BadtotheBone and Silver Bolt, Thanks! I am running the stock upper pulley. More than likely, I am going to stick with the amount of boost that I have and add a couple of other bolt-ons.

I'd like to here from the few that were running a total of 10#
's of extra boost and how they are doing or if they broke; and what there normal altitude that they live and run at. And of coarse, any numbers.

Want Power? Pump up the Volume.

Seriously, nice truck, but I have no idea why you posted. Are you trying to talk yourself out of more boost? You already know that more boost equals more power.
