I dont have a Lightning, but you all goto the track more than anyone. My question is, if I have a bed cover, will that give me a few tenths better than if I just ran with an open bed, and the tailgate up? Im just trying to justify buying a bedcover like a Roll N Lock, and if it will net faster ETs then I will buy it now.
No a bed cover will NOT help E.T. You are adding weight. For optimum times i would think No cover and No tailgate would be the way to go.
Second choice No cover and tailgate down
Third choice-If you want the cover anyaway ,just take off the tailgate at the track and since you want a retractable then retract it.
If not retactable like I got, then take the tailgate off to help make up the weight of the cover.

I read in some post about how leaving the tailgate UP when you dont have a cover, is actually better.........some areospace engineer figured out how thers like this air bubble that is areodynamic and if you open the tailgate it will break the bubble.......BBQMAN posted the link.........
As for my sugession.......If youre looking for ET's over utility, I'd just get a soft toneau cover, and take of the tailgate. Seen a few fast trucks doing this........that way you dont have the weight, plus you got the bedcover.

What VINNIE and JBL said..................... Now, a light weight tonneau cover might work???
I've read the posts about leaving the t/g up and I have raced that way but I noticed what the quickest Ls were doing, and this caused me to change my mind and just remove it. I also removed the hitch, spare tire, and jack.
