Comparo,inclosed v.s. open

Have a JL intake with the ram air tube, open box.which is better? totally enclosed box that is only sucking cool air from fender(restrictive???)or a open box that is getting cool air from fender AND semi hot air from engine compartment?(plenty of air just alot warmer) anybody do an actual comparison??

You know what is funny.
We took out our OEM sealed air boxes ,went with a 12 inch open cone ,then boxed around that ,now we are covering the boxes.Does any of this seem a little weird?
Didn't we start out with a box and filter.

Vinnie you have a good point. I have been thinking about removing my cone filter and putting the stock box back in with a K&N plus hooking up some dryer tubing from the box to the inside of the grill for a little extra fresh air. I have been convinced that it is much better to grab that outside air instead of pulling hot air from the engine bay! You guys know how sensitive these things are to air temperature!!!!

I dont think you can really say the JL box is enclosed.......the lid is more like a big screen, its full of holes.

I had a stock airbox
I had a stock airbox w/ a k&n panel
Now I have a JDM filter...

and now I want to either build a box around it or go back to a stock airbox with a newly designing cool air intake on it.
