Lightbulb 6# and 4# Pulley guys in here please. I am worried now

OK so I bought a 6# lower pulley from JLP with a Dioblo Mudule and some Denso 22's plugs. Now I came on here and asked if I should go with a 4# or 6# as this truck is my daily driver. Most people sayed I will be fine with a 6# Pulley with a good chip and a filter and that is exactly what the folks at JLP sayed too. Now I have been reading and people are warning me to go with a 4# pulley and a chip since it is my daily driver. I called PSP and they recomended the 4# Pulley. So here is the thing. I need you guys to either confirm my worries and I will send it back and eat shipping costs and get the 4# with new chip. Or if you guys say going from a 4# to a 6# wont be a problem and a daily driven 6# will be ok then I will just stick with what I have. Now I know when you mod nothing stays 100% reliable but I am just asking what is my best bet for reliability ni minimize my risk.

Things to keep in mind.
1) I dont drive that hard on the streets. Just the occasional run at the lights so maybe a few times on weekends.
2) It will go to the track about 4 times a year since the Camaro is my race car.
3) I will put about 15 thousand miles a year on it and want to keep it

I know I am being a pain (read Baby) but I just dont want to get in over my head. AM I going to regeret the 6# pulley with a custom Diablo chip and filter.

I put 16,000 miles on my truck in one year.4000 stock,4000 w/4#,and 8000 w/ 6# daily driving and driving to virginia and conn. for fun ford weekends and monthly Test and tunes with so far no problem.
In the end the decision lies with you and you alone.

Send the pulley back and get an interchangeable lower setup! IMO. the 4 lb. is the way to go.

I 've driven close to 20,000 miles this year and half of it was with a 4# lower and the other half (and currently) with a 6# lower. No problems. On a scan tool I monitored the intake temps with both pullies and there is little difference in city driving between the two sizes. On the highway there's zero difference because our stock intercoolers do a fantastic job of pulling heat out.

I'd get the 6# and wouldn't think twice. It'll save you some bucks down the road anyway because we've all been upgrading ever since the 2# pullies came out.

Thumbs up Go with 6#s

Like Rob said, do the 6#er, if you're properly tuned it shouldn't be a problem, and you'll love the extra ummmph with that boost level, good luck with your decision, John H.

I want to thank you guys for your mature responses! I know a lot of people wuld come on here and say "You are asking a stupid question because when you mod you throw reliability out the window" So thatnks guys for realizing I know this but still have concerns to minimize my risk and if a 6# pulley is to great of a risk I would go with the 4#er.

Thanks for putting me at ease guys. I dont drive very hard on the streets and one huge factor I forgot to mention is the Pulley and Chip will only be in 6 months of the year since I would take them out during the winter months. No sence in having them on in a Canadian winter.

Thanks again guys and if anyone has anything to add I am all ears.

Regards, Jason

Question What did U decide?

Well, after a little insight, what's your FINAL answer?

I put 15K miles on my truck in 5 months last year. The last 5K was with a 3lb lower and metco upper. My engine blew(rod # 4 broke in half) and the chip I was running was tuned for the truck. Maybe some people have more luck than others.

Well, after racing my buddies 90 Mustang GT (which starting from 30mph was a closer race than I expected) I am wishing I had gone for the 6lb instead of my 4lb. But, other than some hesitation at certain speeds..which may be due to the chip...I've had no problems with the 4lb. I say go for the 6lb and keep your fingers crossed!

Leonard... If we all drove our L's like you do, we would all be throwing rods and Manely H series rods would be on national back order!!
