The guy that actually produces these had a stroke and with the amount of defective sets that were sold[sagging, breaking] i beleive Metco quit selling these...maybe LFP did also.

poisonedL,no they don't work with a drop....i even had to take my 2in drop shackles off and go back to stock to use the monoleafs.

Myself and Several other L owners got our hands on the newer released sets before the guy that makes them became ill. So far no problems with sagging or cracking.

Metco did quit selling them and was sending people who wanted some, directly to the guy who made them. Metco was very gracious with replacement and refunds for as many people as they could. The old springs and the new batch of fiberglass springs came with a 90 day warranty only. I knew this when I bought them.

So far 8 months , no problems. Saved me about 60 lbs of weight on the L.

Hopefully the guy that made them will recover, the new batch seems to be holding up great.

Im with Houndog. How flexiable is fiber glass that you would to use it as your leaf springs . From seeing all the problems people have had from the first sets and places stop selling them im guessing that its not to flexiable.

My first set sagged[defective]and my second set lasted two trips to the strip[supposedly from the new non defective and properly cured batch]before one of them broke on one end.
I liked the monoleafs and if i could get a non defective set,i would put a third pair on.

I have to give Metco a huge thumbs up for reimbursing me in full when i asked about a third set.
They are a first class outfit with class being the key word.

Thumbs up

I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of the last few new sets that were made.

I've hauled my ATV in the bed with the fiberglass springs. Drove 2,000 miles through some pretty rough Northeast roads with all this stuff in the bed: set of racing wheels, jack, luggage, fully loaded cooler, etc.

The fiberglass springs have went right back to the same height.

One of my friends tows his jet ski with the springs on his L, he hasn't had any problems yet.

So far, so good, on my fiberglass springs.

Metco makes top of the line parts, they make great stuff for all kinds of vehicles.

ib fast,

You are correct:
quote:

I have had the third set on now since WFC with no problems and just delighted with the Professional Conduct from Metco. The set I now have has a thicker aluminum piece in the center. I am a little concerned about Winter Driving on these yet. I Think if these springs were a True Composite, i.e., reinforced with Carbon Fibre they might be more durable. Also, If they were made with resin impregnated Kevlar I think they would have more tensile/compressive strength.
More $ also but an exceptional Mod.

Corvettes have used Fibreglass Springs since 1981 with good results, however they don't make the Torque we do. I hope Metco stays with this project as I think it will be good for them and us.

Jim
