Which pulley

Ok, now I've decided to do the pulley mod too. What am I going to do? Of course, I'll have to go with the general concensus. Truck is a daily driver. I'm mechanically ignorant. Most importantly, poor!

I have a 5lber, many people are driving on those with no problems but if I could do it over again i would go with a 6lber.... so I would say get the 6lber!!!!

I would consider a interchangeable set-up without the cage. That way you could get a 4lb. pulley and upgrade later with minimal effort. Metco is a good one. Search under Razors Edge Motorsports for someone to speak with. Paul(TZrider) is great to deal with and can help you with making decisions. Call a few tuners if you feel better about it and go with the one you feel most comfortable with.

4 or 6 would be the best bet......

Make sure you have plugs & chip to go with the pulley you get....

4# daily driver here. I'd go uncaged. IMO, you dont need the cage, and the caged versions have had serious problems coming off.

I'd say just go strait to a 6lb'er. Ive seen a lot of people drop their 4's and go to 6's. Ive been running my 6lb'er for a couple months now, driven daily with no problems with stock plugs. Just make sure you get a safe tune. I finally just changed my plugs to NGK TR-6's, and truck is running great!

I have a 4 lb'er on my daily driver and would say that I would totally feel comfortable with a 5 or 6 but the 4 has got me where I want to be.

Ok, forgive my ignorance i'm still learning here.

What do you guys mean when you say cage or caged pulley? are yall refering to the quick change pulley system that JDM makes? If they are having that many problems I might want to rethink what brand pulley I am going to get for my truck.

Your factory stock pulley has a "caged" because of the weight of the pulley hanging on the front of the motor. Most of the tuners have had pulleys manufactored with out the "cage" because the new pulley, is well, light as a feather. They can be removed easily if you want to go back to stock. On the other hand the "caged" tuner pulleys have been known to cause all kinds of problems removing them. Problems like having to destroy the pulley to remove it. I have personally run un-caged pulleys with no problems

2# first, then a 3#er, and now a 5#er. Save yourself some $$ and start out with at least a 4#er...............see sig--daily driver(34,900 miles).
