Your factory stock pulley has a "caged" because of the weight of the pulley hanging on the front of the motor
What about the side loading caused by turning the supercharger? That is the main reason for the cage. Without it, your are greatly reducing the life of the engines main bearings.

LMAO is that right? 261,733 miles on a 302 running for a period of 6 years with Paxton, Vortech and ATI blowers. Disassembly of the bottom end shows absolutly NO wear on the main bearings caused by excess pull on the crankshaft. Where do you arrive @ this conclusion that the eaton, a non centriugal design places excessive wear on the main bearings and this is why FORD uses a caged pulley?

Well, I am not trying to beat a dead horse here... but there was a long discussion about this a while back and that is where I got my information. No, I have not seen it with my own eyes, but it makes perfect sense if you think about it. Just wanted baddgene to be aware that the uncaged design MAY have its disadvantages as well as its advantages.

I'm guessing that the 4#is where I'll go, since it will be my daily driver. Thanks all. Now, whom do I contact?

Every aftermarket blower doesn't run a "caged" pulley. Wonder what they think of the "caged" pulleys? The idler pulley takes any shock from the blower. But....if you feel you need a "caged" and are not worried about the removal problems, then by all means buy a "caged" pulley. Its your truck and your money

Baddgene : My personal choice for a 4# was www.powersurgeperformance.net

About the cage: When you have the 4# pulley in one hand, and the stock one in the other, you will know the purpose of the cage. I dont see how in the world the belt tension or 's/c side loading' could cause ANY extra wear on the main bearings. Think about the torque output coming out of the other end of the crank

Gene,It all depends how far you want to go.You can safely run a #2 WITHOUT a chip.If you go higher you need a chip and cooler plugs.I'm running a #4 now[daily driver] but it's interchangable so if I ever want a #6 for the track it's very easy to change.
Hope this helps!-Dave.

I like the Combo of a 2-3 Upper and a 4 lower. Bottom line is 4-6 is where you want to be. And I say UN-CAGED
