Intercooler fans installed (pic)

Installed the fans today.Real easy.I zipped tied them on and ran the wiring to the intercooler pump and switch that I use when I use my powercooler. So now they come on when the intercooler pump goes on and at the track when I flip the switch.

I read somewhere that this mod is not a good idea because it blocks the intercooler radiator from much needed air going down the road or down the track. By the time you hit second gear, your trucks intercooler temp is back to normal no matter how long you cooled it off.

I would rather have the airflow across the intercooler radiator than obstructing it from doing its job.

Just my .02.

When the fans are on they are PULLING air trough the intercooler.

All the fans do is help PULL the air threw , that is forced on the radiator by driving, These fans are on the backside, not the front....

Why did you put fans on if you have a powercooler??
The powercooler will drop temps way more than the fans will.
The colder temps going through the intercooler radiator, with ice in the powercooler, will be offset when the fans are trying to cool the radiator to ambient temps. Should have done one or the other, not both. Maybe you have plans to use them seperately??

Your install does look incredibly clean though. Good job.

Actually what I was going for was effeciency. If the fans can help cool the fluid before the powercooler then the powercooler can cool faster.
I go through a lot of ice in the cooler and then it becomes warm water. If I can slow that process down it should help.

Let me know if your theory works.
It might work better if you cool the intercooler radiator with the fans first, turn them off, then put ice in the powercooler and run the pump with the fans off. I think that pulling ambient air through the radiator the same time you have ice in the powercooler will just help melt the ice. Could be wrong, just let me know please.

I already have one 8" fan on the radiator and it helped TREMENDOUSLY!!! Cools to the touch in about 5 minutes. If you find a benefit with both, maybe I will still get a powercooler.

Since I have had the Powercooler I will give you my thoughts....

The powercooler & IC pump work very well at cooling off the FLUID in the system. The cool fluid then cools the IC, IC radiator, and part of the motor if you let it run long enuff. The IC fans should help because the return water coming back for the IC will be warmer now while it trys to go through a hot radiator. SO in theory this is a precool of the water & radiator before it gets back to the powercooler.....

System flow is like this....

Radiator
Powercooler
Intercooler

Repeat Process....

Vinnie,

I told you ALOT of Ice will go through that thing QUICK!! LOL I think this mod should help slow down the ICE burn some. Worst case it will just help dispate heat easier, but thats a GOOD thing...

That was exactly my thought process. If it can help slow down the ice melting at all it should cool the motor faster.Like you said,it can't hurt to try new things.
