Proud New Owner!!

Well, I finally picked up the L yesterday (02 True Blue). I'm sooo very happy, but if you all don't mind, I have a few questions:

1. I already ordered an ARE cover with keyless entry, and carpeted inside for $950 installed, supposedly I got a deal because the cover alone was 8 something and the keyless was $150 and the carpet was supposed to be another $70 or so. I like the LEER 700 cover more lookwise, but many of you liked the quality of ARE, so I went with them. I don't like the look as much, so I thinking about adding the spoiler what are you all's opinion on a spoiler?

2. I was expecting a more kick in the pants response from pressing the pedal. It's strong yes, but I guess my expectations were higher. So, I guess I will chip it and get an Air Force One kit. The question is, in stock set up, should I be able to get my friends 92 Camaro? Don't know what model he has, but he says 300 plus horsepower. I do know it is stock though.

3. All I got was a standard F-150 owners manual. This can't be correct is it? There's nothing even in there about the supercharger. There's a vacuum and boost thingie on the dash cluster that's not in the manual.

4. I have two dimples on the fron bumper. The dealer says it's standard for where the license plate bracket would go. Correct?

5. I want to get 20 inch wheels, what should I know about "offset"?

6. How do I find out what number my truck is?

7. What's the significance of the gauge pods everyone adds to their trucks? In keeping up with the Jones', I believe I saw someone with a digital one, where can I get one?

I'm sorry for all the qustions. I'm new to the game, and have a lot of catching up to do. Thanks.

1. Don't care for them much myself, but it is your truck. There are some guys with pics of trucks with spoilers if you search I'm sure you will find them.

2. I do not know of any stock camaro other than a new SS that will hang with a stock L. You should take the 92 camaro if it is stock. Definitely go with a chip, filter and pulley combo soon. Don't wait a few months like I did and miss out on all this fun

3. Yes the owner's manual is the same. There should be some kind of SVT supplement though.

4. Yes the dimples are for the bracket on the front. Please refrain from using unless absolutely necessary.

5. ???????

6. Call SVT. There are 4,726 L's built in 2002. 1130 of those were the faster blue color.

7. Guage pods allow aftermarket, more accurate boost guages along with other guages(a/f ratio, transmission temp, etc.) Do a search for guages or lunar or phantom and you will find all the info you need.

Hope this helps. The search is pretty good unless the word is less than 4 letters and then you have to be creative.

1 spoiler is personal preferance, I dont really like them

2 Give the L about 1000 miles to break in, it gains a TON of power after break in......... not sure about the camaro, I think you'd win

3 I got a reg. f150 manual and a SVT manual, ask the dealer for one, you should have got it.

4 Correct

5 no idea bout 'dubs'

6 I called SVT to find out what # mine was, have your Vin handy

7 People with added boost who want to make sure what boost their getting usually get guage pods with better guages (stock one sucks - mine reads ~14, i have maybe 12.........looks cool tho, going waaay in the black)

Get one of the Fast Air intake kits instead of the Air Force One. I have PSP's kit.

Shoulda gotten a nice zippered portfolio with the SVT
manual and the F150 Manual, and all the descriptions
of the additional services available. Like Roadside assistance,
Towing, courtesy car for ALL service issues.

Good Luck and welcome to the CLUB ...

Welcome My Lightning Brother and CONGRADULATIONS.
They get quicker as it goes alone so don't worry. "IT'S IN THERE". True Blue is a Beautiful Color, but just for the record, everyone knows Blacks the fastest As for your questions about the mods, I go for all performance first, I'm starting on the Suspension and Body now.
As for your answers: Not In order
My bumper doesn't have any dimples ?
I got a fancy leather case and a supplement SVT insert.
Don't worry about the tires and rims yet, the tires will only last a year.
Go with a plain cover, forget the wing (only saw one I liked in Fl)
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CALL SVT TO GET A CERTIFICATE, there coming soon, I spoke to them. If you want your Born On Date,
SVT # is 866-377-8862
SVT info center is 800-ford-svt
SVT Fax (313) 621-2500
Pully-Chip-N-Filter is all you need to be in the 12's

GOOD LUCK

Gene,Congrats!
As far as the spoiler it's a personal preference, but PLEASE don't go "ricer" on us and get a huge wing!LOL!
As far as power it'll feel better with a few miles and mods.
Mine dyno'd @ 398.5 and 497.6 in 100* heat with only 1700mi on it.[std mods]Now i've got about 4500 mi. and it feels quite a bit stronger, even in this heat.I can't wait for some cooler weather!
Same was true with my Silver '01,It really "woke up" at about 5K miles!
As far as gauges I went with a Lo-Tek triple pod and Autometer Phantom gauges. They are a very nice match and almost look factory.
Let me know if you have any questions as far as mods.
Later,-Dave.

Congrats on your purchase..........your SOTP feel will get better as your truck gets miles, but a chip with a valve body from Gregg (Factory Tech) will make you feel THAT MUCH BETTER, sooner. To me, the best 2 mods bar none there can be. I can't speak for a pulley, because I don't have one, YET, but obviously, from all the others on here, it's obvious it'll make it feel like a brand new truck....

I wouldn't get the spoiler either; but once again, personal preference is everything, and if you really like it, more power to ya!

As far as your buddy's '92 Camaro with 300hp.........I can guarantee you that there were NO Camaros back in '92 with 300hp, FOR SURE!!! The '93 model was the year they changed the body style, and that came with an unheard of (at least for that era) 275 HP from the new LT1...........so your friend is either fibbing about the 300hp, or he is damn far from stock........

good luck with your new toy...........and enjoy

JC

Thanks for the responses thus far. Rob_02, that's a good idea about the rims, I will wait a while then. So, this week I'll be ordering the chip and filter (what's the difference between the Air Force One and the Fast air intake?) I'm wary of doing the pulley mod, as I already don't know jack!
Dave, I met you at the Pavillions a few months back when I had the HD. Hope to see you again, under a bit more equal terms tgis time

Thanks again guys!!
