Wanting a Supercharger for my '94 Lightning
There is alot of information (as well as opinions) about the Kenne Bell superchargers.
OK, I am wondering if I have this sorted out correctly: If I want instant boost, longevity, and room to "grow", my best choice is the blowzilla, right?
I can run 8 psi without any hassles, and the supercharger (2.2L) will be more efficient with a cooler discharge temp. because at 8 psi it will be "underworked". Does this sound correct?
Also the truck will not need any other modifications than what comes in the kit, right?
I already have the level 10 valve in the tranny. Will this be sufficient with the supercharger, or should I put in Kenne Bell's tranny tricks?
My truck is stock except for the usual mods K&N (on a home made intake tube), the Level-10 valve.
The only other thing that I know I'll add to the kit is a A-pillar mounted boost gauge. I wonder why one doesn't com with the kit, or does it?
Does anyone know who sells Kenne Bell's kits?
Thanks guys, this will not happen overnight, just getting my "ducks in a row"!

The guy that works beside me at work has a 94 with a powerdyne 11lb kit. We put it on with a motorsport e303 cam, Mass air conversion kit, and msd with timing retard. That was last summer when i had my 01 lightning. The first time he ran me with it, it went a 13.06, but blew the head gasket on one side. So then we pulled the heads off, put a "blower grind" comp. cam in it and put aluminum motorsport heads on it and it went a 12.70 in Feb. But since its not intercooled, and because of the stout cam, his 11lb kit only shows about 6 or 7 pounds of boost. Also, it needs a converter in it to get it off the line, I couldnt get better than a 1.95 60ft in feb when i drove it. It just doesnt make boost off the line like a roots type blower does.

Yea, clonetek, I got a thread going over there as well (I hang out in the Gen I forum mostly). How's that beast of yours running?
I am suprised at how little of the supercharger market that Kenne Bell has, it is mostly dominated by Vortec and Paxton.
I've got e-mails out to a couple of KB retailers as well as Kenne Bell the company. I'll keep you guys posted on what I find.

Kenne Bell Whipplecharger
Chris my name is Ron and I have a Kenne Bell supercharger for sale, I used it on my 93 Lightning,. it bolts directly to the lower GT40 intake manifold, I bought it new 10 years ago and had good luck with it. It has only about 1800 miles on it. I am taking it off because I want to put the truck back to original, I will need a upper GT40 intake to replace the supercharger, I would be interested in partial trade or if you know where to find one please let me know, Thanks Ron P.
