Do 2002 Lightning have an audible alarm?

I was wondering if it has an audible (Horn Honk) alarm? I locked my truck then waited 1 minute and opened it from the inside and the horn did not start hoking? Is that theft light in the dash only for the pass lock key? I cant see it not having an audible alarm esp as we have a panic button on the remote??

Thanks, Jason

Yes it does, but you cant just lock the doors get out then reopen the door. It takes around 60 seconds before it arms. Two things that will set it off, door being opened without use of key, and key turned in ignition while its armed.

Its not what i would call a high tech alarm, and in most cases an aftermarket should be sourced...

NOPE

I don't think it does or at least my trucks don't work. I did the above procedure and nada zilch nothing. I believe it is just a keyless entry system with the PATS key wich is fine horn in annoying anyway and no one listens to them at least in NJ they don't. I don't think anyone wants to steal the stock stereo out of these bad boys so they system is fine with me..

yes it does...mine went off

I have an 02 and mine went off the other day after I tried to open the door. It happened when I hit the unlock button...although maybe I accidently hit that red button on the key fob...whatever, all of a sudden the horn starts blasting, honk, honk, honk, honk. It wouldn't stop until I got in the truck, inserted key into ignition and turned the key...then...quiet.
I didn't have time to figure out what triggered it and then forgot about it until I read your post. I'll try to see what happened later today.

Don't you have to hit the lock button on the remote twice to set the alarm? Hitting it only once locks the truck, but doesn't set the alarm.

My Lightning did not have an alarm from the factory. It did on the other hand have the keyless entry. I had to opt for the alarm to be installed when I bought the truck. I think what may be confusing you is the keyless entry uses the excact same remote and the keyless entry makes the same sounds when it sets as the alarm does.

ALL gen 2 lightnings have the factory alarm. The keyless IS the alarm. When you lock the doors either from remote or the door lock button it turns it on, as i mentioned there is a delay between when it actually activates and when you acutally lock the doors.

It came standard on ALL lightnings.

THe only options in 99 were only CD , tow package, and bed cover

00+ the only option was the bed cover. Everything else was standard.

Cool

The theft light means there is a thief in the area and to lock your vehicle and be cautious
