Quick question on L vs. Corvette

My friends mom just bought a Corvette convertable. He doesn't know much about my truck, but can't stop talking about how fast his mom's car is. I have a K&N panel filter and a superchip. The question is, who should win in a 1/8 mile sprint? I would love to shut him up!

It's an automatic. That should make it a little more difficult.

Johnny, waht year is your Lightning? The 01 and newer Vettes are a little faster the auto has 360 Lb. of torque. Does that Vette have the 3.15 gear ratio? If you have an 01 with a nice tune race him til about 80 and then shut it down.

With a chip an filter you should take him since his moms car is a vert (little more weight).

Just make sure you get light first or its over.

Sorry guys, I guess I need to be more detailed. His mom has a 2003 convertable stock. I don't know what gears it has. Mine is an 02' with a chip and filter. I don't plan on going any faster than 90 mph. I tried out one of those g-techs and did a 0-60 in 5.2 sec. It was about 85 degrees.

Race him, you should win provided you get a good launch. Killa they did such a good job with the chasis in a vette that it was actually designed as vert. first, that is why it only weighs (1 pound more, this is not a typo) than the coupe.

My roommate's bone stock 1998 C5 (auto trans) coupe barely ran in the 13s when he got it. It took a K&N, Hypertech programmer, and larger mass air meter to go 13.4. Granted he is not much of a driver, but how hard can it be to step on a gas pedal? You should kill that car no problem.

I see bone stock vettes with a auto running high 13's at best all the time,if you have a chip and filter you should most likely be running low 13's on street tires therefore you should win from a dead stop.If you race him from a roll he will probably beat you just a lenth or two.

Well, we didn't get to run due to rain. I'll let you know when we do.

You will smoke him in the 1/8th! My friend has had several ZR-1's and he is a little quicker in the 1/4, but I stomp his pie hole in the 1/8!!!! It makes him so mad in his $50K limited production sports car! Try taking him on the street too, just don't fool around on the highway, you will be MEAT!

If he beats you, tell him it's a triatholon. Second event is racing while pulling a 22' fishing boat, and the final event is to see how many bags of top soil fit in the trunk. That usually shuts them up.
