Hahah! How can he possibly say thats a lightning conversion? There was nothing done to the engine except an airbox which "adds 20hp". Lol! On the other hand, I was thinking about how an expy would look fully converted. If it had all the side skirt pieces, it would look 100x's better.

Saw that one... so a few emblems is all it takes to be a Lightning conversion... incredible. If I'd known that I coulda saved a bundle and just gotten a base F150 flare side and "converted" it to hang with you all...

I went by the dealers lot (universal Ford) last weekend and saw a little red ranger pickup with 'THUNDER' badges and decals on it. It was sad. had some crappy wheels, cheap tires and iron on 'thunder' (complete with lightning bolt) decals on the seats.

what a joke

i think that is the conversion that SLP is now doing to the rangers (if you don't already know this. )

as for the Thunder expy, yeah it would have been cool if somebody actually did a COMPLETE conversion (seats, gauges, motor, suspension, rims, the whole works). There's a few guys on teh other site that say they have a HD-expy when all they have is teh grille and lower valance. (they forgot to mention the Lightning heads/corners and other non-hd or stock parts that they put on their expy.) yeah a lower valance and grille really make your stock expy into a HD one
have yet to see a complete conversion to a HD expy, although one guy in CA is getting close (even had custom HD-expedition badges made that look original). He's got the exterior almost perfect, and last i heard he is starting to get the right leather seats for it.

I e-mailed him and asked what happened to the supercharger and what did he spend 10k on... this is what he replied:

Body work with paint and installation - $1,800, Wheels and tires - $2,800. Chrome running bars and installation $700. Suspension - 2" drop, all new shocks, $1,700. Sway bar $400, New air induction $400., speed grills $300, tail lights $200, guages $400, fog lights and switch $350, plus shipping and taxes, adds up to about 10 grand

Reserve is Kelly Blue Book retail which is always HIGH... PLUS 25% of 10k in mods Plus 50% of warranty ? LOL

Since when do you EVER get installation cost back on ANY mod ...

Maybe he'll get lucky and find the fabled sucker...
