Will a ford dealer include an A.R.E. Lid in the price of the vehicle or is this only available from another dealer???

Yes they will get you one, charge you top dollar and finance it with the price of the vehicle...My advice is save your money get a soft cover around180.00 if you shop around find used hard cover for about half of the cost of new and sell your soft..Just my 0.2

Ascii,

I don't believe Ford dealers sell ARE bed covers. Best to check with ARE. You can get their site from the product directory on this board. They make a great product. I just purchased my second one. I have heard the dealers tell you it is an ARE but sell you another type. Please be sure to check it out. No matter where you get it the ARE is a quality product.

You have to lift the lid, it won't open up as soon as you turn the key. They do have an option to unlock the lid when you unlock you doors with the remote control or inside the truck. I didn't have an extra $199.

My ARE LSII lid opened by itself last weekend! The latch used to stay in the closed position without it being locked. As it has gotten older, the lever starts to flip up when I drive rough roads. I hauled some furniture for my in-laws and forgot to lock it afterwards. I was almost home and heard this strange noise and then couldn't see anything in my rear view. Had to stop and lock it down before going into the garage (already made that mistake once!).

Yes, the dealership will sell you an ARE lid, and they will add it in the price, and finance it. But like it was said above, don't do it that way.

Save your cash and buy it elsewhere.

good luck,
joe

I'm an ARE dealer so I know what I am talking about here. I sell frequently to dealers. Sometimes they inflate the cost to the consumer and sometimes they don't. I think the way to avoid them inflating the cost is to know what you want before you make the purchase. Go to the local ARE(or other brand) dealer and get a written estimate for what you want. Go to the car dealer with this written estimate and tell them this must be part of the deal or you will go elsewhere. Here in Tennessee the tax is only 6% anything $1600 and higher. Therefore instead of paying the 9.5% tax on a cover you can get away with paying 6% and get it financed at a good percentage rate. Good Luck.

(I'm not selling any products so don't ask)

A.R.E. will not sell direct to anyone except for large corporations which purchase for their fleets or Authorized A.R.E. dealers. The only way for most people then, is to purchase from a local A.R.E. dealer or one of the local dealers distributers which may or may not include automobile dealers in their area.

Adjust the cover. I have mine pretty tight so it doen't bounce around
