Does computer take a while to learn chip?

I just installed a 2 lb pulley, ram air and a 90mm along with a reburned diablo chip to accomodate these mods on my 99 and took her for a test drive. I really can't feel too much difference. I also have a factory tech valve body and people have been posting that they get a chirp out of the tires from 1st to 2nd. I don't think I am even close to chirping and my tires are pretty worn. Sometimes I even get a real slow rolling shift.
I am wondering if after I drive it a few miles does the computer learn the chip and will the truck become faster?
Thanks

I installed a chip and filter, and immediately upon driving that truck was 100 % more agressive. Will smoke em into second.

Hope one of the more experienced guys will chime in soon

If you don't feel it, it's prolly not working ...
Check that the chip is in ... Did you take the
computer outr and clean it real well?
Just trying to help out, not insult ....

Mine without a chip is a dog ... Well, not
really, but it sure SEEMS like it after the chip.....

If ya get up this way, holler and we can go racing ...
