When my 03 comes in. What should be the first modification? Should it be cosmetic or performance oriented? What was some of the first modifications that you guys did and how hard were they to do? Sorry for all the ??'s, but I am itching to get my new 03 and I want to be prepared with lots of parts to put on when it arrives SUP WHOADY'S??

real performance mods, require a chip for giddy-up and safety. it will take a little while for the chip-tuners to get their chips ready, once the 03's are out. so, if you need to spend some money today, i'd go cosmetic. floor mats, bedrug etc

 

Definitely a bedrug, 2" drop shackles, K&N panel filter, and a clarion sub.

 

Bedrug, seat covers if you wish, toneau cover if it doesn't have it, new speakers in the front doors.

If you want performance mods then get a filter kit, a new muffler with nice tips to be rid of those horrid stock ones, also while you're at it throw in a set of good brake pads to help minimize the brake dust you have to clean.

Depends on what you want first, looks or speed.

I agree with everyone, but Speedin Bob said it best.
Go for the performance right away. As for new chip programs, I got to believe since it's the identical motor WITH NO CHANGES it probaly still uses the ABU2 programs (anyone ????) As for lowering kits I'd wait since the one change they did make is to the suspension, plus Ford did lower it themselves for 03 so I'd see how it is before messing with it "and it's new pay load".

Does anyone know if the 03's are gonna have the same head problem or are all of us going to go out and buy 03 heads because they FINALLY PUT THREADS IN THEM ???? THAT WOULD BE NICE. And by the way, does ANYONE make our Lightning heads with more threads in them for a quick swap out ????
